Common Questions
What does it cost to include a custom website?
Request a proposal and you’ll get one flat monthly retainer covering your SEO (and ads, if applicable) and a custom website. There’s no obligation either way, and most importantly, we don’t have a sales team to chase you down and nag you for a decision.
How long does a website take to build?
Plan on 4 to 6 weeks from kickoff to launch. That covers the brand spec, design, build, content, and the SEO foundation on our development server, with your review before anything goes live. There’s no separate website design/build invoice. Website design and build are covered by your first month or two (depending on revisions) of the monthly retainer for services.
Will my plugins, forms, and analytics still work?
They will. Every page we build is a native WordPress page, so the plugin ecosystem treats your site like any other. Yoast handles your SEO titles, meta descriptions, and sitemaps. Contact Form 7 powers the forms, styled to match your site’s fonts and colors. Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and ad platform pixels install the standard way and fire on every page, which is how we wire up your conversion and call tracking. Caching plugins work as designed too, though pages this light rarely need the help. The blog keeps WordPress’s normal editor, and menus, users, and roles are stock WordPress. One thing we do on purpose: we keep the plugin list short, because every plugin you skip is one less thing to update or break. A future developer will find a normal WordPress site, not a puzzle.
The potential for adding additional plugins always exists, too. So there’s flexibility to your specific requirements.
Do I own my website?
Yes, all of it. The domain and hosting are in your name, the content is yours, and the website. There’s no license that expires and nothing that phones home to us. If you moved on from us tomorrow, the site would keep running. We’re a firm believer in everyone owning their digital assets. And if you do leave us, the site stays exactly where it is: on your hosting, under your domain, with you holding admin credentials.
Can your access be removed and handed off?
Yes, in under 1 minute. Our access is one application password plus an administrative user. Delete the password, remove our access, and every remote connection is dead while the site keeps running. Handing off is as simple as giving your new developer the admin login; the pages are plain HTML anyone can maintain. There are no exit fees and nothing to untangle.
Do you keep supporting the site if we discontinue service?
We don’t. Support ends when service ends: after termination we’re not maintaining, updating, or fixing the site. We’d rather say that plainly here than surprise you later. It’s also a smaller deal than it sounds. Because the site is standard WordPress with plain HTML pages, a new developer can take it over without us in the room. There’s no proprietary builder to decode and nothing only we know how to run. And if you ever want to come back, that’s an easy conversation.
